Music City Drum Corps has awarded its inaugural Finis Sparkman Scholarship to Wade Craig of Lebanon, Tenn. Craig is currently a senior at Wilson Central High School and a member of Music City’s color guard.
“I nervously auditioned the first time for Music City in 2016 and was ecstatic to be offered a contract,” Craig said. “It turned out to be the best summer of my life. I couldn’t wait to audition again in 2017, and now I’m eagerly awaiting the start of my third season.”
Finis Sparkman was a snare line member from Antioch, Tenn. who died during his rookie season with Music City in 2017. The corps created a scholarship to honor his love of music, his passion for the activity, the value he placed in education, and the enduring impact he made within the DCI community.
“I am very proud to be a member of Music City Drum Corps and honored to receive the scholarship that recognizes the legacy of Finis Sparkman,” said Craig, who plans to attend the University of Tennessee Chattanooga in the fall.
The Finis Sparkman Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually and funded entirely by private donations.
